What About Bob?
State races are starting to heat up across Ohio. The departure of Paul Hackett from the Senate race has distracted many from the race for Governor. I myself, for a myriad of reasons, have not been involved in the campaign for Governor nearly as much as I wanted to.
It is for this reason that I wanted to remind everyone about Bob Fitrakis' campaign against the two major parties this year.
Often we are forced to choose between the "lesser of two evils" and we are lucky when we have a different type of candidate throw their hat into the ring.
Again, please e-mail me if you are interested in collecting signatures or supporting this campaign. As a candidate who is not marinating in corporate and special interest money he needs help from the grassroots level.

You hooked me with the last sentence. I haven't been paying enough attention to the Gov's race, either. I need to check out Fitrakis.

Yes you do. He needs all the help he can get. If we vote for Strickland, Blackwell, etc., then we are saying everything is okay and keep up the good work. That's not the message the politicians need to get right now.

Hello Andrew,
I saw some of your CityLink comments on another blog. Do you have any comments on Dale Mallory's 31-10 impeachment loss?
The West End Community Council booted him out despite a full court press by the Mayor and his family. Probably all Dale's 10 votes were from his family. Isn't it real clear that the actual West End residents don't want CityLink?
Why doesn't someone "follow the money" and figure out why the Mallorys would invest so much political capital to satisfy Crossroads people and screw over their old neighbors. The Mallory true colors are becoming obvious...and its pretty ugly.

Anon,
My stance on this topic has for the most part disregarded William Mallory and Cincinnati's new royal family.
While he may have lost in the community council vote, one should realize that a population of 41 is hardly a representative sample of the entire neighborhood.
These services are necessary and consolidating them is a good step in the right direction- regardless of whether it benefits Crossroads or Dale Mallory or whoever; Crossroadds benefits the people who are in need of help and that is what is important here.

Andrew,
Consolidation is a very BAD idea. You will have battered women and children under the same roof as men that have had violent pasts. The dynamics of this diverse mix of needy is irresponsible and dangerous. CityLink says to the zoning board they are "just a landlord" they are mostly volenteers and they plan to consolidate dangerous men and fragile women......a real bad idea.
