City Beat's Dunlap Takes a Cheap Shot at Jeffre... Again

In a summary article of the city council race Stephanie Dunlap had a parting shot for former mayoral candidate Justin Jeffre.

I was one of the most vocal supporters on the internet of Justin Jeffre's campaign and was angered the first time she had fun at his expense in a different article.

In the most recent article she was discussing the failure of the independent candidates and threw this random comment in about Jeffre:

That must have been disappointing to Justin Jeffre, the former mayoral candidate and 98 Degrees singer who liked to advocate for independent candidates as long as it was himself and the independent media as long as it supported him. He was very briefly seen pontificating for some cameraman at the Board of Elections.

I have had a few problems with Jeffre post-election, but I was still caught off guard by this strange shot on Jeffre. Justin using his celebrity status to try to make fundamental changes for the better is not the best thing to make fun of. I know his band wasn't an indie sensation worthy of City Beat, but come on... Enough already.

As we all know, I am infatuated with jj2k05 and Dunlop's comments were spot on.

C'mon jeffre is back "to help fund progressive, independent candidates". So how much has he given so far? Hmmmm? Right. zip.

and jeffre is back to "establish a Cincinnati Green Party". Yet he wouldn't even run under the green party name 3 months ago. Is he even logged on to their new site (which is pretty sweet)? Hell, even I have registered and I can't stand most of them. Boy, he is the "Invisible Man" (pun intended).

jeffre is a poser. Plain and simple. We don't need somebody in Cincinnati who is only interested in getting headlines and not doing any of the work. He is the Milli Vannili of the political world. There I said it.

Yossarian,
It is good to see you on all the new blogs. Nothing is complete without the honorable Democrat, defending the old style.

You have a lot of good criticisms about Jeffre that I HOPE he answers well by doing some of that work you are talking about.

Glad you like the new 513 Green PAC site, but it ruins my day to find out you can't stand most of us.

Keep up these insightful posts.

Who is Stephanie Dunlap and why is she so upset by Jeffre's comments about the lies told by the main stream media? She continues her attempt to discredit him and defend inaccurate and biased reporting. He is stating the obvious about the lack of professionalism in Cincinnati news. Because he stands alone he is the target of her venim. I say Justin has balls to stand up when everyone else is silent.

I wouldn't say he stands alone in that battle. I hear lots of different people every day trying to hold the media's feet to the fire.

Dunlap is developing a strange thing for criticizing Jeffre and it still astonishes me that she just threw that in.

I hope she keeps writing about it, every time she puts his name and cause on paper it gives a little bit of fuel to that side of the battle.
